With the arrival of summer , fluid retention increases That sensation that makes us feel as if we have suddenly gained weight and that has as a consequence that we see ourselves with a bulging abdomen , our legs feel heavier  and our hands swell more frequently than usual, being more evident at last hour of the day. Fluid retention is a problem mostly suffered by women, as they have an easier time retaining them. In addition, if the woman is in the days before her period, is pregnant or in the months before menopause, the possibility of retaining fluids is greater. Stress and a fast pace of life cause a higher probability of retention. Fluid retention is  the manifestation of fluid extravasation in the subcutaneous tissue of the legs and feet and, to a lesser extent, of the arms and hands. It is usually a minor symptom in relation to heat or long hours on your feet, but on other occasions it is a symptom of systemic diseases. For this reason, we want to share with you this list of foods and draining liquids that are advisable to reduce fluid retention.

Drink lots of water: the most basic remedy of all but the most accurate. Any expert you ask will tell you that the minimum is to drink 2 liters of water a day. It is good to "purify" impurities and avoid dehydration, especially in summer. Substitute green tea for coffee : drinking more than two coffees or caffeinated soft drinks a day causes hardening of the arteries and an increase in blood insulin levels, which leads the body to store sugars in the form of fat and retain fluids. The best option is to replace them with green tea or water. Avoid foods with salt: taking more sodium than the body needs causes water to be retained to reduce its concentration in the body. Avoid prepared meals, fried snacks, and non-homemade sauces as they are high in sodium. Watermelon: watermelon is one of the best natural diuretics that exist due to the large amount of water it contains. More than 90% is water and it is a very low calorie fruit because it only contains 20 calories per 100 grams. Pineapple: pineapple has an active ingredient that helps prevent fluid retention, bromelain. Bromelain has anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties and therefore helps in situations of fluid retention. Horsetail: helps to eliminate fluids, reduces swelling, has a laxative effect that facilitates the elimination of fat and toxins and serves to eliminate cellulite. In addition, horsetail provides our body with a large amount of potassium, magnesium and aluminum. Asparagus: they have a high water content and are rich in protein, fiber and vitamins. It is not surprising that in most weight loss diets it is one of the star foods.
